Revolt!!!
Tonight we had our revolution. And I really wanted to give a shout out to Dr. Mashburn for being not only a good sport, but more like a enthusiastic participant. I really enjoyed the rebellion even though our demands were not met. It is so bizarre to go from the strict private school I came from to here, both are private and Christian, but that is where the similarities end. This is my last blog so I just wanted to thank everyone for the stress and the fun. The stress because that is how you grow. Fun because who doesn't want to have fun? So thanks again.

Dearly Beloved, We are Gathered...
Prostitution and marriage, they are similar, but they also have major differences. They are similar in that they are not always by free will, and it can be only for personal gain and not love. When I think prostitution and marriage I think about arranged marriages and sex trafficking, none of those girls have a say in what happens to them, but in the end almost the same thing happens to them. Typically they end up with some man who doesn't love them, and all they care about is getting their money's worth. But if you use what marriage is suppose to be like then you have a completely different picture, you have a man and a woman who truly love each other and aren't just together till something better comes along. Most prostitutes start out just until something else turns up, they think they have no skill for a different job, or like Mrs. Warren the other job is harder and doesn't pay as well. In the end you have really more like three kinds of matrimonial bonds; real marriage, where you enrich your life and someone else indefinitely, prostitution, where there is no false faces to what you have, and a sugar spouse, where you marry for money or security.
Its All Relative
It is said that you can't pick your family, but I say why not. You can't chose who you are born to, but I know lots of people who are adopted, they were chosen. You pick your friends or they pick you. And are friends not just extended family, I know mine are. People disown family members all the time. There are fathers and mothers who never know their children, though they might even live with them. Every year hundreds of children are neglected by their biological parents and they're care is taken over by often times by complete strangers. If you can disown and be adopted why not be able to chose your family? One of the plus side to choosing your family is you can add to it all the time.

Your Mom
We have been reading about different kinds of mothers in our readings lately. Rodin's mom loved him and worried about him constantly, then there is Mrs. Warren a pimpet who tries to act motherly, but is really nothing like her daughter and is just wasting both of their time. Talking about mothers makes me think about my mom. My mom would be a mix of the two, my mom is amazingly loving and she would sacrifice everything for me, but she is also practical, though she would never own a brothel. Families are so important, most people will agree that the father is the head of the house, but when mom is not happy, then no one is happy.

A Love Revalution
Two nights ago I went to the Chris and Conrad concert and the idea of a love revolution stuck with me. If you were to have a revolution they are usually sudden and violent. If you were to have a love revolution, would you revolt against it? Or for it? Would you change everything about it? Or is it just a change of how you do something, but do it lovingly?
The revolution out of love reminds me of what Martin Luther King said about bad laws, that you defie them openly and lovingly then accept the consequences. I think he was right, if we have a problem this sounds like the best way to deal with an opposite oppinion.
I agree that we are standing on the edge of this revalution. I know I'm sick and tired of all the garbage we're fed about love and how things are "suppose" to be. I know that dating is fun and its nice to have a "significant other" but who says you have to hold hands, kiss, or sleep together by a certain time. Who made up all these stupid rules about how things ought to be? Its time to revolt against these expectations and redefine Love in a manner that pleases God and is how He created it to be.

Where oh where art thou sanity
As I was reading "Crime and Punishment" I couldn't help, but wonder was Raskolnikov insane? He seemed to have his sanity for the most part at first. Then as he contemplates killing the old woman he becomes disillusioned. After he actually commits the crime he seems to lose all touch of reality and becomes extremely paranoid. Later his paranoia causes people to actually suspect him. After this he goes in and out of rational thought and I had trouble trying to decide if the story ends with him having his sanity or not. What do you think?

broken
It has been an interesting week, we've talked about sincerity, love, originality, and urns. All this together reminds me of a Hawk Nelson song from their cd Letters to the President.
"Broken words said to me these broken mirrors make it hard to see. Does anyone feel the same? I some help, I need some change. Broken dreams and broken hearts You broke my trust right from the start. How am I suppose to feel when nothing is ever real?" Hawk Nelson really is a great band. I don't have anything to say that hasn't been said, but I mean what I say and I pray that, that will be enough for the urn that will depict my life.
